August 18-20 and/or August 25-27
Kindergarten Readiness for Kids ages 4-6

The Young Rembrandts preschool program provides a unique step-by-step drawing curriculum that has been developed over the past 20 years.  We have intentionally developed our methods to aid young children in the development of key abilities that shape their future learning processes.  Our program is process-based not product-based. In our classroom there is so much more happening than simply drawing.

Our preschool curriculum focuses on promoting kindergarten readiness skills.

DRAW & PLAY CAMP
August 4 - August 6 from 11-4
Jr. Cartoon for kids 5-7!
This 3 day camp combines drawing classes with play! Kids will start the day with a drawing class through Young Rembrandts. The theme for this week is Jr. Cartoon!
This camp is a great way for young artists to begin cartooning. Each day we will draw a variety of original cartoon images challenging enough for our young minds. We will work on basic cartoon techniques like exaggeration, balance, action, and movement. Each drawing provides us with opportunities to practice our drawing skills all within the fun of cartooning. Learning to outline our cartoons with Sharpie™ markers and color in each drawing using bright, bold colors prompts us to plan ahead. We walk away with a bounty of cartoons to inspire our family and friends.
After class, kids will have lunch (brought from home) then play, play, play in The Playroom with our fabulous, fun loving staff!

We have been thinking a lot about child care these days. We hear so many stories about people getting laid off, or losing hours and this impacting child care. We are hearing a lot about people having to change from traditional child care due to lay-offs and other employment changes in this economy.  So, we’re wondering how you are being impacted.  Is the economy affecting your child care? Yoga, Draw & Play Camp at the Playroom

YOGA, DRAW & PLAY CAMP
July 21- July 23 from 10-4
Shopping Mall Camp for kids 5-7!

This 3 day camp combines yoga, drawing classes and play! Kids will start the day with a yoga class followed by a provided snack. After snack, kids will participate in a drawing class with Young Rembrandts. The theme for this week’s class is “Shopping Mall!” It’s time to go shopping! The good news is we can draw the items we love to shop for. Our artists will imagine themselves at some of their favorite stores and “illustrate” the merchandise. We will draw shoes, boots, fashion accessories, along with popular zebra and leopard print fabrics. A stop at a bath and candle shop will produce an illustration for these popular products. Our final day will result in one large store front scene, with our own clothing designs cleverly displayed. Pencil, color pencil and markers will be used.

After class, kids will have lunch (brought from home) then play, play, play in The Playroom supervised by our fabulous,  fun loving staff!

Draw & Play Camp at The Playroom in Reno

Jr. Under the Sea for kids 5-7!


This 3 day camp combines drawing classes with play! Kids will start the day with a drawing class through Young Rembrandts. The theme for this camp is “Under the Sea” which makes us think of mermaids, fish, shipwrecks and even sharks.


All these will inspire our drawings as we draw many animal and human characters found under the sea. Learning to draw a variety of creatures help fine-tune our motor skills along the way. Our last day will be exciting as we combine the subject matter we have learned into one larger drawing with a story of its own.


Media used includes: pencils, color pencils and markers.
After class, kids will have lunch (brought from home) then play, play, play in The Playroom with our fabulous, fun loving staff!

Summer Camps and Drop In Child Care

Drop - Off Play Camps and Child Care all summer long!

Every week in June, July and August The Playroom offers Drop - Off Play Camps!

Tuesday - Friday 10-1, sign up for a day, a week, a month or the whole summer! Flexible scheduling gives you the option of camp/child care when you want it and the choice of how much to spend.  Let us fit into your summer schedule and budget. Here’s how it works.

Play Camp will take place Tuesdays - Fridays from 10-1, June 2 - August 28. Every day kids will get to play, paint, make crafts, have storytime - a whole variety of activities. And did we mention play, play, play in The Playroom? Our fabulous, fun loving staff will ensure your child has a fantastic time!

This camp is for kids 2-6 (potty training NOT required).
Cost is $25 per day, siblings an additional $10. Price includes a snack and drink each day.

SPECIAL BONUS: Sign your kids up for a 4 day week (Tuesday - Friday) and get four days for the price of three! That’s right! Sign up for four days, pay just $75 - that’s a $25 savings! Siblings are an additional $30 for the week - save $10 per sibling for the week.

Pre-screened Babysitters at The Playroom in Reno

We have GREAT news!  Due to the popularity of our pre-screened babysitters, drop off child care has been expanded.  Need a parent’s night out or girls/guys night out?  We now have drop in child care available EVERY Thursday and Friday night.  Thursday nights from 5 - 8 and Friday nights from 6 - 9.

Kids 2 and over (do not have to be potty trained)
COST: $25 for 3 hours, siblings are an additional $10 each


We now have an activity table set up with paint, crayons, chalk, books, play-doh and lots of other fun things to do. And that’s all in addition to the fantastic play area! It’s a guaranteed good time.


One other change we’re making in how we do drop off child care is to take a credit card number at the time your reserve a spot. This is to ensure your spot and it’s also in case of late cancellation or no-show. We now require 24 hour notice if you have signed up your child and are not coming.  Late cancel or no-show will result in a $10 charge.  We have to staff based on the number of kids coming so it’s important we have an accurate count.


They will have a FANTASTIC time with our fabulous fun loving staff babysitters and YOU get to go out and have some grown-up time! This is truly a win-win!

Summer Safety for Kids

It’s just about June, temperatures are climbing and schools are letting out - aaahhhhh…. SUMMER IS HERE! There is so much to do outdoors during the summer and we all know that sunscreen and staying hydrated are crucial for our kid’s safety. What else do you do to keep kids safe while swimming, hiking, camping - whatever you do to play? We’d love to hear and you may just help another parent!

One thing we do is plan some fun indoor activities as well as outdoor just to limit sun and heat exposure. This is especially true when it’s in the 90’s or above.  We love to paint, read books and, of course, play at The Playroom! Love that air conditioning!
